I must admit, I am far from a beauty blogger as I am not very skilled in the makeup department. I typically have my same routine and it's nothing fancy. I do sometimes receive questions regarding my makeup or how I got my hair to look a certain way. I've listed my favorite products below. As a disclaimer, I am not sponsored in any way and have purchased (and love) all of the below products.
1. Foundation: Bobbi Brown's Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation SPF 15. Why I love it? Besides the SPF factor, it stays on perfectly for my skin type. It never gets greasy/oily throughout the day and I have found my perfect skin shade match. As a teenager, I spent a lot of time in Sephora makeup chairs having their artists try different brands and shades on me. I was never super happy, but eventually I found this one and haven't looked back since. The coverage is medium, but buildable.
2. Brows: Ka-Brow! eyebrow cream gel by Benefit. I'm fair skinned with blonde hair/brows, and I use the 02-light shade. It makes my brows just dark enough to stand out on my face without contrasting too harshly. I really like that it comes with a little brush that stays in the lid. The packing is genius.
3. Hair Waves: Bedhead Wave Artist. This tool can be found at Target for around $24.99. I've had mine for a couple of years. I rarely use it just because I have such long, thick hair it takes me longer to do my hair than I like to spend. Every time I use it, I get complimented on my hair and asked what I use. You can adjust the temperature. The lower the temperature, the softer the wave. I like pronounced waves, so I keep the temperature at the hottest. It's really simple to use and acts as a giant crimper basically, but can be time consuming depending on how much hair you have.
4. Eyshadow: Jouer Cosmetics. I've owned several palettes from Jouer and the quality is outstanding. The pigment is excellent and as long as you use a primer, they should stay put on your eyelids all day. I also really like some of their lipglosses. Overall, great products.
5. Lash Glue: House of Lashes Eyelash Adhesive Clear White. I'm actually very new to using false lashes, but this glue makes it super easy. I read reviews on Sephora's website at first with people criticizing it, but the good outweighed the bad so I tried it for myself. It dries pretty quickly on the lash band, so you just apply it to the band, hold the lash for a few seconds to really let it set, and then lay it on top of your natural lashes. It truly does go on clear, even if it looks holographic on the lash band and in the bottle. I haven't had any problems with removal as I just gently peel my lashes off.
6. Hair Mask/Hair Repair: Joico Defy Damage Protective Masque. This is probably my favorite product on this list and is literally life changing. It smells amazing and has improved my hair in every way. Here's a little lesson that I learned through discussion with my hair stylist - if you're blonde and use purple shampoo, you're not supposed to use it every wash. I was using it every wash. Purple shampoo may be good at brightening the color and reducing brassiness, but it has a tendency to dry out hair. When I was talking to my stylist and asking why my hair was looking oily and greasy even within a day of washing, she informed me that when the hair or scalp is too dry, it'll overproduce oil trying to self-correct. That sounds like something I've heard regarding skin too. ANYWAY. I started using this damage control stuff and my hair dries faster, looks better, has a better texture, and smells amazing. I was told to use it only once a week. I wash my hair twice a week and use it every time I wash. I can't help it. It's amazing! I cannot praise it enough or imagine what I'd do without it. Leave it on in the shower for 5 minutes, rinse, and go! I buy mine from Ulta.
7. Salt Scrub: Dr. Teal's Pink Himalyan Salt Scrub. This is a cheap find for $5 at Target, but it's amazing. I try to use it about once a week. It's a somewhat harsh exfoliant; definitely more abrasive than a sugar scrub. I love that I can basically feel it getting rid of all the dead skin though. Dr. Teal's makes other scrubs, but this one is my favorite because the scent is a bright, refreshing citrusy bergamot. It also has oil in it that makes your skin feel so soft and smooth after you use it. Definitely would recommend.
