When I ran the Disneyland Paris races this year, one of the things that made the experience so special is I ran in costume/themed character outfits for the first time in a LONG time. I used to run runDisney races in costume all the time, but it just got too expensive. I can't sew, so I used to purchase my costumes from specialty running shops on Etsy. This year, I made my own costumes and I'll walk you through the process! Feel free to copy! I've linked the items where applicable.

The most iconic parts of Esmeralda's outfit are her white peasant top, teal corset, pink hair scarf and purple skirt with gold accents. I was excited to find the purple tutu skirt with gold flakes on it because I felt like it is a very practical way to do Esmeralda as a runner. Normally, you would be wearing one of those wraps for belly dancers with coins all over if you wanted to make it authentic, but that sounded way too heavy and annoying to run in. This skirt represents Esmeralda perfectly though!
Next, I found a corset belt for $9, but teal wasn't an available color. I chose white so I could dye it teal more easily. I wish my belt would have come out a darker teal, but it is likely my fault for diluting the dye with too much water and rushing it. I dyed my belt 3 hours before I had to go to the airport so it barely was in the dye for 20 mins. Next, the hair scarf. I couldn't find a headband the color I wanted, so I just bought ribbon from a craft store and pinned it in my hair. Cheap and effective. *shrugs*

Pink Ribbon $2 (recycled from Esmeralda)
Pink Bow for the ears* - This isn't necessary, but I wish I could have found a pink bow to put between my cat ears to really be iconically Marie.
Tail OR waist bow $15
Marie, as iconic as she is, is really simple. At the heart of it all, she's an all white cat with pink accents. I'm not as proud of this costume because I wish I would have gotten different ears. I had to order whatever would arrive within 2 days on Amazon Prime though. I used my bow bag from @sewminniestyle for a waist accent. Obviously Marie doesn't have a giant bow tied around her stomach, but since I didn't buy a tail or a bow for in between the ears, I just wanted a BIG pink bow somewhere on me. Most people still knew exactly who I was channeling. I got super lucky with the cost of the white shirt I bought.
