Melia Orlando is a beautiful resort with a list of amenities including spacious suites and its location being 5 minutes from Disney property. They just added a brand new amenity that should make every fitness buff VERY excited. A Peloton suite. When I was informed that they just added Peloton to some of their rooms, I was excited, but I was picturing what I had seen in other hotel rooms; a bike placed by the window. I opened one of the doors to my suite (just so happened to be the Peloton side) and immediately squealed and gasped. I couldn't believe what I saw. It looked like a Peloton showroom that belonged to only me. The Peloton room had a large banner with Peloton graphics, a large TV on the wall, resistance bands, a mini fridge, towels, and the PELOTON BIKE! The bike was placed against a wall that had beautiful stripes and the Peloton logo. Let's just say... I immediately want to re-do my Peloton room at home.

I brought my Peloton shoes with me from home because I wasn't sure if the hotel would provide Peloton cycling shoes. I can tell you that my shoes clipped right in as normal, which means the pedals are your standard Peloton delta clips. I had some people ask me because evidently some hotels/showrooms have Peloton bikes with a different type of pedal cage. The bike is in showroom/public space mode so there was an option to ride as a guest or to log in to an existing Peloton account. I logged into my account so my ride would be tracked and added to my account's ride history. The bike will log you out on its own after the ride ends. I actually had my best output in a long time on my ride in this room, so I'm going to attribute that to the environment being so awesome.

Room Layout

My suite had two entrance doors and I'm assuming was initially a 2 bedroom suite, but one of the bedrooms is the Peloton room now. When I entered the first door, there was a bathroom on the left with a tub/shower, toilet, sink, etc. If you continue going straight, you're in the massive Peloton room with all the equipment and large closet featuring mini fridge and towels. There is an adjoining door that will bring you to the rest of the suite, which is also what you enter into if you enter the other entrance door from the hall. In this great room, there is a dining table and chairs, sofa, tv, full kitchen with all appliances (stove, dishwasher, fridge, toaster, coffee machine, microwave, etc). There is a door off of the kitchen that leads to the bedroom which has a desk and chair, sitting chair by the window, king bed, dresser, tv, closet, and master bathroom with a shower separate from the tub and all other necessary facilities. I'm almost certain that this suite was larger than my 2 bedroom condo that I live in, but I don't want to see the square footage to know for sure. [insert laughing emoji]

If you are a visual person, I will be putting together an instagram reel of the room tour soon. Keep your eyes peeled @disneygirlie.

Amenities

Given the health crisis climate with Covid-19, one of the most important amenities that travelers can look for in a hotel is prioritizing safety protocols and sanitation. Melia has this covered with a digital thermometer in the lobby that takes your temperature by scanning your face, several social distancing markers on the floor, mask guidelines in every public space, and room deep cleaning. When I got to my room, all of the cabinets, phones, and remotes were covered with a tape that said they had been disinfected. I also noticed a tv screen in the lobby of my building saying that no items from the previous guests would be left in the room and housekeeping would only come in if no one was in the room. In-room dining also is delivered contact free with the food being left outside your door after they knock.

There is a restaurant/bar off the lobby called 360 American Bistro and let me tell y'all... the food is GOOD. As a local with a car who knows her way around, we could have left property and eaten anywhere, but we didn't. I ate there 3 times during my stay. While my stay was complimentary as the hotel hosted me, the food was not. I paid with my own money for all food and beverage and I truly think it was worth it. My first night there I got the salmon, second day there I tried the Margherita flatbread, sweet potato fries, and four cheese baked pasta with chicken. The restaurant was also decorated tremendously well for Christmas because they bar has been transformed into a pop-up Christmas themed bar called Sippin' Santa. The Christmas cocktail menu was extensive and every drink I tried was delicious.

The pool is basically a large, circular recreational paradise. It is shaped like a giant circle with a bridge/pathway that leads to an island in the middle. On the island there is a putting green, hot tub, and more lounge chairs. Along the outer rim of the main pool there are chairs, corn hole boards, ping pong, and in the pool there are basketball hoops and a volleyball net. This is probably the most activity oriented pool I've ever seen. The pool is heated very well because it was only 60 degrees yesterday and I was able to get in comfortably.
